My Knowledge Manage Workflow: Part I
My Workflow
I thought that this would be a rather interesting contribution to the mix; it’s time to discuss some of the tech I use to get things done.
Let’s Talk About Tasks And Tools
I have tried several different applications for productivity throughout the years, and so here is what I have so far settled upon. Let me know what you think of these.
- Journaling: Day One is literally one of the best journaling applications out there. While it used to only be available for the Mac and for the iPhone, it’s now also available on the web, (though for me, personally, I wish we had the traditional fat client experience also on Windows, but I’m weird, so, ignore me, refusing to follow the trend of the web seemingly on a war path to take over all things tech…I’ll shut up now.) Aside, Day One is my daily diary application; I have several different journals, which we’ll go into in a later post.
- Organizing:
- Readwise is what I use in order to move highlights from both books (works with all kinds of various sources, though I normally use it for Kindle and the open web), and articles I find interesting around the web.
- Logseq, I’m just getting started with, though once I get it going, I will have more for you on how I incorporate it into my daily workflow, for the possibilities are endless. Right now, though, I have been using it to pull my highlights down from Readwise, so that they will be in a file format which Day One can read (both applications can process markdown files), and then I can process the pages of highlights into my “Books” journal, something which we’ll get into later.
- LogLink will definitely make an interesting addition, too, since I sure do a lot of channel surfing inside of Telegram, both in private groups as well as publically subscribable channels. We’ll get into the channels I follow in another post, of course. In fact, there are actually too Telegram bots that I could opt for, though this one looks a bit on the newer side, so I might want to be there to watch it develop. Some folks on the forum are reporting that one of the other ones “doesn’t require a server”, which is no problem for me, since I have plenty of server space. More to come on that.
I hope you find this sort of thing interesting, and as I discover things, I’ll indeed be sharing them, so this will certainly not be all I have regarding this topic, since there’s still lots to go over in a bit greater detail.
Until next time
