Discoveries Bite My Butt

When reality Strikes Too Damn Hard…

Firstly, if this sounds stupid, I apologize to the world. But I have been discovering some uncomfortable truths regarding the people I have chosen to associate with both now as well as in the past; though this will focus on a specific time during my past; we’ll save the present for later.

I have discovered a pattern emerging, and it all began back in 2014; for those who know me, you’ll recall that from around 2014 until around 2020, just when the COVID-19 pandemic hit, I was a volunteer for a computer renewal clinic; one of the last of its kind in the state of Massachusetts, at least to my knowledge, and gods do I miss that place. What I do not miss one bit, however, is the director; while I won’t name names here since I still like to remain civil on the internet, all readers need to know is that the guy did not like me, and I have only just discovered why…nearly seven-something odd years later.

Association Can Kill Reputation

You will know something if you have hung out with me for any length of time, and that’s that I don’t walk away from people. However, due to the vitriol that our society holds towards those who act different from the norm, I suspect that the director of the clinic simply disliked me due to the fact he also disliked my friend who I often volunteered with; both myself and my friend were attempting to change some of the routines of the organization to be more in line with both OS expectations (when Windows 7 came out, most of the customer’s devices were still running XP) and Microsoft support policies (Windows XP was out of support, and yet the crew was still installing it onto systems being provided to customers and volunteers).

My realization is simple; some people, whether fifteen years old or fifty, just cannot bear to have their control ripped from them, and this guy was no exception. He hated my friend for daring to speak up for the good of the flock, so to speak, and then by extension, after my friend left the establishment (because he wasn’t being listened to, and frankly, I should have taken that as my queue to leave as well) so the feeling turned towards me instead. I dealt with it until the whole organization died out (evidently from COVID, though I suspect there was something else there that I was not privy to) But my entire point in bringing this up is to ensure that the people you associate with don’t cause too many ripples, and if they do, then make sure the ripple is worth your time, because some people would rather see themselves in control than listen to the people who actually care.

Keep your friends close, and don’t let the people who see you as a nuisance stand in your way. I wished I’d realized this seven years ago and didn’t waste any more time on it once I realized my advice wasn’t being heeded. With love always, Kat

I can’t say how much I absolutely love this! It’s awesome…and I can’t wait to determine how to do it on both Wordpress and static sites (like right now.)

Friday Randomness

On this Friday afternoon, everything seems to be running smoothly; with the exception of a few ongoing major incidents at work, but otherwise, I couldn't have asked for a better day; it's bright outside, though cold, my friend messaged me on Signal from school asking me what I'm doing this evening, which is a whole boatload of absolutely nothing, so she might end up coming through.

I was pleasantly granted the company (via a phone call) from our other mutual friend since he was waking up and needed a conversation in addition to his morning cup of coffee to get his ass in gear. Yup, this has been an excellent Friday the 13th so far; Thank you Odinn, Thank you frigg, Thank you Skadi, thank you Queen Andraste of the Winter Fae.

Just drank: Large coffee with peppermint-flavored syrup.

I finished this one a couple of years ago, but dang, was it a good book. Very unique in its plot and character development, that’s for sure. Finished reading: Beyond the Black Door by A.M. Strickland 📚
